Hagan Storms into the
Winners Circle at Berryessa
Under a gloomy sky and blanket of fog the Bass Busters held their 2nd tournament of 2008 launching out of Capell Cove at Lake Berryessa. After all the forecasts of stormy weather, the intrepid Bass Busters were prepared for a miserable day on the water. But, it didn’t play out that way. Except for a brief wind event, the gale force winds never materialized and the rain wasn’t steady until about 2:00pm. The lake was virtually empty since the forecast was so bleak but this didn’t stop John Hagan from running the length of the lake to Putah Creek to find his winning limit of 8.91lbs. With only 8 limits for 30 anglers the fishing was tough and plastics seemed to rule the day. John Fernandez came in just .33lb behind Hagan to capture 2nd with his brown spider jig. Ron Shikashio relied on his magic dropshot to secure 3rd. Scott Crawford came in 4th with help from the big fish of the tournament, a 2.96 lbr.
